​Soldering Sampler at Beadology
​
Date and Time: 02/08/2026 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: No experience necessary.
​​
This workshop involves the fundamentals of soldering.
Learn and hone a variety of soldering skills—connecting
an open jump ring, adding a ring to another piece,
and more.  Practice both sweat and spot soldering. 
​ Leave with a variety of samples and a new set of skills.
​
This class serves as a pre-requisite for many metal working classes.

Textured Stacking Rings at Waterloo Center for the Arts

Date and Time: 03/01/2026 from 12:30pm - 5:00pm

Learn to texturize brass and silver rings.

Then size it to fit. Get or hone your soldering
skills to complete your ring. Learn good clean
up techniques. Make a few to stack.
​This is a great intro to soldering.

Metal Bezel Pendant at Beadology
 

Date and Time: 03/08/2026 from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: Basic soldering skills

​Hone your soldering skills by capturing and
securing a stone cabochon with a metal bezel. 
Learn how to size your bezel, solder it into
position, and make sure that cab stays in place! 
​Clean everything up and complete your pendant.

Forged Wire Fringe Earrings at Waterloo Center for the Arts
​

Date and Time: 05/03/2026 from 11:00AM - 4:00 PM

Design and create a pair of mixed metal earrings
with movement and texture. Choose from a
variety of pre-cut copper shapes, then personalize
your design using stamps or texturing hammers.
You will cut and heat silver wire with a torch to
create balled ends, then thread the wires through
your copper base, adding beads for color and
dimension. The ends will be forged to secure
the beads in place, creating a beautiful fringe
effect. Finish your piece with an optional patina
​to highlight your textures and designs.

Learn the fundamentals of metalworking: sawing,
filing, drilling, riveting, and stamping. Then design
your pendant and put your newfound or refreshed
skills to work.
This class serves as a prerequisite for many classes
in our metalworking series.
​No soldering involved in this project.

Use your spot and sweat soldering skills to
make a metal pendant.  Individual help with
​design and construction will be provided.

Spinner Ring

Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: Basic soldering skills

Use your soldering skills to make a ring band. 
Then make a smaller ring that will spin freely
around the band. A fascinating piece of jewelry
​to help you through the stress of the day.

Textured Toggle Pendant
​with Bezel Set Stone


Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: basic torch soldering and stone setting


Create a fun, eye-catching pendant that doubles
as a toggle clasp. You’ll choose a triangle stone
from my collection, cut a hole for the tube rivet,
stamp a design or pattern to add texture, and set
your stone in a hand fabricated bezel setting.
Along the way, you’ll forge your own toggle and
refine a variety of metalworking skills while
​making this classy, wearable piece.

Sawing and Soldering
​

Capacity: 6
​Prerequisites: Basic sawing and soldering skills

​In this metal working class, learn some precision 

sawing techniques to create negative space.  
Take the shape just sawed out and solder it on 
the pendant to create texture.  Your pendant will 
be one-of-a-kind.  A great project for honing 
your sawing and soldering skills.

Twisted Wire Jewelry

Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: No experience needed.
​
Twist 10-gauge wire into a thick and beautiful cane. 
Manipulate the wire into shapes and cut it to create
a bracelet, earrings, pendant, and/or charm. 
​Oxidize the wire to magnify the twist.

Cold Connections: Riveted Dangle Earrings

Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: No experience needed.

​Learn to manipulate brass and copper
by adding rivets and other cold connections.
Add texture through hammering and/or
stamping. Make a lovely pair of metal
​earrings with lots of movement.

Etched Charm Bracelet

​Capacity: 6
Prerequisites: No experience needed.
​
Learn the process of acid etching metal. 
Each participant will make a set of charms
and create a chain with rings from which
to hang your charms.  This project will
​hone your spot soldering skills.
